House T6 with approximate measured areas: Floor Area 263 m2 | Gross Area 365 m2
This chalet-style house dates from the early 20th century and was fully refurbished with completion in 2014.
In its total refurbishment work, the details of its origins were preserved, namely, wooden floors, interior doors and shutters, and original handrails inside and outside. Keeping the property's personality, the interior organization of the divisions was changed, transforming a property with 10 rooms into a functional house with 6 bedrooms. The refurbishment transformed this unique villa into a modern comfort of living with its historical look.
Following the wish of the current owners to preserve its history, the American windmill was maintained and restored, running today with the sea breeze.
This property has a well where water is obtained for the automatic irrigation of the garden, and, as well as the supply of the necessary water to the original irrigation tank, now converted into a swimming pool with a filter, coated with glass tablets to chill off on the hottest summer day.
The house is distributed as follows:
On floor 0, the main entrance welcomes us in the entrance hall, then we find the living room, an office room, a cinema and sound room, and the open kitchen combined with a nice dining area. On this same floor, a pantry supports the kitchen and also one bathroom. The ceiling height of this floor is 3.41 meters, giving it a unique feeling of spaciousness combined with high windows, perpetuating incredible natural light until the day is over. A nice terrace accompanied by a balcony that surrounds part of this floor from the outside is the perfect company for a perfect end to the day.
The stairs and an elegant handrail take us to the next floor where we find 2 more spacious rooms, full of natural light, another room that works as a studio and two complete bathrooms with excellent areas. A balcony longitudinally accompanies the rooms of this house, allowing you to enjoy a side view of the sea.
On the top floor is the master suite comprising a large bedroom with a reading area, full bathroom and closet. This division has the dimension of the implantation area of this house.
The climatization of this house is made by air conditioning.
There is also a basement floor comprising a storage area, ironing room and wine cellar. In the laundry room, we also have a hot water tank powered by solar panels.
From the terrace we have access to the garden, where in addition to the aforementioned tank converted into a swimming pool, we have a lawn kept in excellent condition, a typical Portuguese cobblestone (calçada portuguesa) area where you can have your meals and socialize with your family and friends. You will also find a deck where you can place sun loungers and enjoy your sunny days.
Still in the large garden, we have some fruit trees and a cobbled path that will guide you in gentle curves to the parking lot for two cars side by side.
The beach with direct access is just a few dozen meters away and awaits you.
Is it or isn't it a unique property, full of personality and contemporary?
Some curious details about this property:
The request for construction of this property dates back to 1903 when its first owner Mathias Marques Nunes requested authorization to build it, thus giving it the name of Chalet Matias. The next owner of this property, Arthur Augusto Brandão, asked in 1928 for authorization to build the wall that currently surrounds the house and in 1929 carried out some additional maintenance works. This house is renamed Chalet Brandão. In 1946, the then owner Antónia Brandão, decided to carry out some works of an aesthetic nature and conservation on the walls, painting the exterior wood, and replacing the original roof eaves with Portuguese eaves.
